How Much Does Phone Sex Cost in the UK?

Guides · Updated 8 November 2026

Ad / affiliate disclosure: this site earns from some of the lines featured below, and some are run by the site's publisher. Prices are shown as charged.

A UK phone sex call on an 09 number costs a service charge, usually between 35p and 65p a minute on cheap lines, plus your phone company’s access charge. The total depends on both, so the advertised price is never the whole story.

The two parts of every 09 call

Every call to an 09 number is made of two charges added together:

So a line advertised at 35p a minute will cost 35p plus your access charge. If your provider charges, say, 50p a minute access, the real cost is 85p a minute. That is why one line can be cheap on one phone and pricey on another.

What do UK lines charge?

Prices vary a lot. As a rough guide in 2026:

There is no general legal cap on 09 prices, but there are limits on some networks. BT, for example, can’t charge more than £1.53 a minute (including VAT) for calls to 09 numbers from a BT landline, according to Ofcom.

How long does a typical call last?

Most calls run somewhere between five and fifteen minutes. At 35p plus a typical access charge, ten minutes might cost anything from about £5 to £10. At 65p, the same call could cost £8 to £13. Decide on a budget before you dial and keep an eye on the clock.

Is paying by card cheaper?

Often, yes. Many services sell talk time by debit or credit card at a fixed rate per minute, with no access charge on top. It also keeps the call off your phone bill. The trade-off is that you are giving your card details to the company, so only use well-known services with clear terms.

How to keep the cost down

The short answer

Budget UK phone sex lines start at about 35p a minute, plus your phone company’s access charge. Add the two together to work out the real price. If you want a fuller explanation of how UK lines work, UK Phonesex has a plain-English guide.
